Hillcrest Baptist Church was born in the spirit of prayer and a vision for a strong Bible-centered ministry. A nucleus of believers met first at the home of Mrs. Geneva Kleinman in 1962. Early the next year they moved to larger quarters in the old YWCA. April 21, 1964, was the date of incorporation. It was New Year’s Day 1964 that the local assembly had thirty-five (35) charter members. A recognition council met January 28, 1964, and the body of believers was recognized as a Baptist Church. Plans were formulated and the construction of a house of worship brought a spirit of praise. The first service in the new sanctuary was held on Easter Sunday 1965, and the building was finished for dedication on October 9, 1966. From those early days God laid a great foundation for the future of the ministry. With the same spirit of praise the church has grown and expanded two more times, and now meets in their third sanctuary built in 1991.
In the nearly fifty year history of HBC there have been 5 pastors, the first was Pastor Robert DeBoer led the church from October 1963 until February 25, 1973. Pastor R.
